MyRacehorse Launches Aftercare Program 'Retail With Purpose'

MyRacehorse has launched “Retail With a Purpose,” consisting of a series of auctions featuring experiences and memorabilia that owners can bid on with 100% of proceeds directed to the MyRacehorse Transition Fund.

Auctions are facilitated through the “Retail With a Purpose” program within the MRH shop, with new items launching regularly. Auction items include signed memorabilia, trophies, private morning training experiences, equipment worn by MRH horses such as shoes and halters, box seats at racetracks and stallion tours.

In addition to the Retail With a Purpose program, MRH will continue to donate a percentage of every share sold to transitioning horses to second careers.

“I don't think there's anything in the Thoroughbred industry that makes more sense and has to be addressed than the aftercare…they've served us and given us years of entertainment, now we need to reward them with a life after [racing] that they can enjoy,” Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas said after his recent involvement with Retail With a Purpose.

To date, MyRacehorse has successfully transitioned dozens of MyRacehorse horses as stallions, broodmares, dressage horses, show jumpers and more. For more information, click here.

The first Retail With a Purpose set of auction items were launched three weeks ago and included: a Seize the Grey (Arrogate)-worn halter; a private morning at the track with D. Wayne Lukas and Seize the Grey; a private morning training session and round of golf with trainer Ciaran Dunne of Wavertree; and a Luxury Suite Experience at Santa Anita donated by 1/ST. Over $10,000 was raised on these four items.

New items are added regularly to the Retail With a Purpose section of the MRH Shop, which can be found here.

The second round of items include a personal morning at the track with Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella; a private tour of the premier Thoroughbred breeding operation Taylor Made Farm, led by Duncan Taylor; and other memorabilia items.
